Royal Mail designed a set of ten special David Bowie stamps, decorated with the star’s most admired album covers, and shots of the singer as they paid homage to Bowie’s role in the 1976 film ‘the man who fell to earth.’
We created a competition, allowing fans to guess the exact locations where the stamps will land for a chance to win one of the prestigious sets.
52 sets of the stamps were launched into space, each attached to a special helium balloon. Once the balloons burst, they began their descent at around 200 MPH, slowing down as they fell to create a shower of starmen literally falling down to earth.
